Taking time for daily self-care is vital and necessary and should not be seen as a luxury.
So many people struggle to strike a balance between our own needs and those of our families. This can be particularly difficult for those who have small children, but even those without children have responsibilities to take care of partners, pets, extended family, and their homes. We often forget about our own needs when we devote our time and attention to the people, animals, and places we cherish. But to ensure that we have something to give each day when we get home, we must take care of ourselves and fill our own wells with water.
The responsibilities at home are never-ending, making it simple to become overwhelmed by them. There is always something else you could be doing, like putting another dish in the sink, cleaning down the counter, or helping someone who needs a lift. If you do not establish boundaries, you will end up doing housework and other people's chores for eternity. You will eventually most likely feel exhausted and disconnected from your inner vitality. Include self-care in your everyday routine rather than waiting for this to occur. Even the Buddha insisted on having a whole hour to himself each day. Sometimes, even that will not be feasible, for example, a sick relative or a new infant. At times like this, retreating inward energetically can be a lifesaver. You can always find five minutes to close your eyes and breathe consciously. You may even be able to meditate.
Though, you can dedicate an entire hour to yourself every day. Furthermore, setting aside a longer duration of time such as once a week, you can significantly aid in regaining your vitality. Visit a movie, make an appointment for a massage, or go out with a friend. It is much more delightful to return home after spending time exploring the outside world. Likewise, looking after your needs is a natural extension of looking after your house and family.
