Waking up to the fact that something needs to change in our lives is the first step to
realizing our dreams
As we begin a new year, resolutions are a firm decision to do or not to do something. It is a
universal truth that, at some point or another, we come to terms with the fact that something is
not functioning as it should. This insight might arrive as a flash of insight or a growing sense of
uncertainty that something needs to be altered in our lives. Some individuals tend to leap to
conclusions and implement drastic adjustments before thoroughly investigating the issue. Others,
though, are too afraid of the unknown to act when they become aware that a change is required.
Nevertheless, there is a solid and appealing way between these two extremes that may help us
alter our current course.
The first step is realizing that everything in your life has a greater purpose. When one
thing shifts, the whole world shifts with it. Therefore, it is frequently the case that relatively little
adjustments have surprisingly large results. The only way to know whether drastic action is
required is to thoroughly investigate and understand the issue. Look at everything in your life,
from your job to your relationships to your living situation, and see where you might improve.
Put your solution to the issue in writing after you have arrived at it. For example, " I dislike my
flat" or "I am not thrilled with my relationship." The next stage is determining the desired
modification and how to implement it.
If you are dissatisfied with your relationship because of spending too much or too little
time together, you will have to talk with your spouse to find a solution that works for both of
you. But if you have concluded that your relationship is not going anywhere and has to cease, it
is time to start figuring out how to do it. Truth, when written down, may be a potent agent of
transformation.
The first step toward effective change is acknowledging that it is inevitable. It is possible
that as we develop, we will need to make some adjustments to our relationships, careers, and
living arrangements. Our lives are dynamic, living reflections of who we are as individuals.
